Hello, My name is Dillon Sprague, the artist behind 57 North Arts.

My mediums are paint, ink, and fire. My specialty is fumage, where I deposit soot from a candle onto a piece of paper or canvas, and then use a knife blade to etch into the soot to refine the image.

I am based out of Sitka, Alaska, a city that lies between the mountains and the sea on the 57th parallel. Sitka’s indigenous name is Sheet’ka and it is the homeland of the Lingit people, who have been its stewards since time immemorial. I am grateful to be a guest on these lands.
